Norton Satellite: Free _Apps To Scan Facebook Feed & Dropbox Account

After releasing Norton Antivirus, Norton Internet Security, Norton Anti-Theft, and Norton 360 products for Microsoft’s newest version of Windows, Symantec Corporation has now released a free app named Norton Satellite for Windows 8 and is now available in the Store.

Norton Satellite helps you scan your Facebook feed for malicious links, scans your Dropbox to identify unsafe files, and also scan external storage device for malware.

Norton Satellite doesn’t work as a substitute for your existing Windows Defender or any other third-party antivirus software. It just helps you better protect your cloud account.

The best thing about the app is its easy-to-use user interface. Just launch the app, enter your Facebook or Dropbox details to begin scanning your account.

The downside of the app is that it doesn’t scan all file types and doesn’t help you remove all types of viruses. The current version of the app scans only.exe, .dll, and .msi files. So, as we said before, this is no substitute for any antivirus program. The current version of the app doesn’t include support for SkyDrive or Google Drive. However, you can scan your local SkyDrive or Google Drive folder using scan a folder feature.

Besides, it can also scan individual files (.exe, .dll, and .msi). The app quickly connects to the Symantec servers and completes the scan in a few seconds. Overall, it’s a pretty good app for Windows 8. Users can use this app to scan downloaded applications.

Visit the Store and install this free app if you want to scan your Facebook feed and Dropbox account. If you’re looking for a free antivirus program for Windows 8, we recommend you check out Avast Free, Panda Cloud Antivirus and AVG Antivirus Free 2013 programs.

To install the app, open the download link (provided at the end of this article) in your Firefox or Internet Explorer browser, click View in Store button and then click Install button to start installing the app. To uninstall, simply right-click on the app and then click Uninstall option that appears at the lower bottom of the screen.
